Women Empowerment

OBJECTIVES:

 Mobilized 500 women Self Help Groups (SHGs) in 78 villages.
 Total savings – Rs.1,08,75,000/-
 17 grass root level federations formed and functioning
 2-taluk federations with membership of 213 women SHGs
 70% of the illiterate women SHG members are helped to be literates.
 60% of women SHG members actively participate in the Grama sabhas
 More than 4,700 women engaged in I.G. Activities through 3.9 crore internal loan and 8 crore bank loan.
 With the support of Donor agencies, over 2,000 houses were built for Dalits and marginalized families in Raichur, Bellary and Koppal districts.
 More than 1250 Janatha/Ashraya houses, road construction/repair in 56 villages, public sanitation facility to 52 villages and 398 drinking water structures availed.
 41 different types of Govt. facilities like houses, drinking water, roads, street lights, etc. availed by SHGs from Government worth Rs. 17.3 crores.
 Formed 21 panchayath development committees and 25 children parliaments.
 48 women from SHGs elected for Gram panchayaths.
 Children’s admission at schools and regular class attendance increased upto 95%.

‘PAUSTIK’- Mitigation of Malnutrition

 3817 children, 5324 adolescent girls. 6711 lactating mothers, 4652 pregnant women are aware of Nutri-tion food.
 2798 adolescent girls availed services of SNEHA clinic.
 2768 adolescent girls, 14934 pregnant women, 9780 lactating mothers availed nutrition supplements from Anganawadi.
 78 low weight children’s weight increased and 54 children with severe malnutrition have recovered.
 Out of 12475 deliveries, 12378 deliveries have taken place in Health centres / Hospitals.  3084 families started using toilets and practicing safe defecation/sanitation.
 Child mortality is reduced to 0.5% to 0.28%
 31 children with severe malnutrition were recovered through medical services at Bala sanjivini centres.
 2756 families have owned Kitchen gardens and getting fresh green leaves and vegetables as Nutrition.

HIV/AIDS- Awareness, community based care & support

Accomplishments
 Created awareness on HIV/AIDS in 126 villages of Bellary, Raichur and Koppal districts.
 285 HIV infected adults, 189 HIV infected children, 313 STI/RTI cases, and 148 TB patients were identified and provided care & support.
 85% of STI/RTI cases and 148 TB patients were treated and cured.
 The PLHIVs and CLHIVs health status improved and helped to lead a normal life.
 26 VHSCs formed and strengthened to take up the Health issues especially of HIV/AIDS.
 162 PLHIVs linked to District Positives Network
 32 PLHIVs are promoted as Positive speakers.
 Contribution in cash and in kind (Food grains) was collected by the VHSCs from the community and support-ed the identified PLHIVs in their emergency needs.
 15 HIV infected children were transitioned to CLHIVs care homes.

Natural Resource Management

 Communities were helped and trained on Watershed management and methods of soil and water con-servation over 75 villages.
 Two check dams were built with people’s participation.  17 percolation ponds are built for the community with people participation.
 A village tank was desilted.
 Field bunds are laid in more than 3200 acres of agricultural land.  More than 2,000 acres of barren land was converted into cultivable land.
 Water stored in the water storage structures created in the program, helping more than 15000 people in 20 villages.

Flood Relief & Rehabilitation

 Opened 5 temporary shelters to flood victims & feeding centres at 5 places and 1575 people were given free food.
 Distributed food grains and clothes to 1067 families with local resources mobilized through NGOs network.
 Distributed food, non-food items and cooking materials to 3500 flood victim families of Bellary, Raichur and Koppal districts.
 Free health camps and medicines distributed in 26 villages & served to 3940 people.
 28 families helped to regain their income through Income Generation activity (Goat rearing)
 Utensils and ration kits are distributed flood affected 79 families in Raichur and Ballari districts.

Self-Employment/Eradication of Poverty

 More than 3500 poor women engaged in in-come generation activities
 511 youths (253 girls & 258 boys) were given skill training through Vocational courses and were helped to be self-employed and get em-ployment in well known and leading companies, garments, Hospitals & Factories.
 241 poor students were helped financially to complete their vocational/professional courses.

Rain Water Harvesting

 317000 litrs of potable water is available for more than 2000 school/boarding home chil-dren. During summer there will not be water scarcity.
 32400 litrs of potable water is available for 120 dalit community families.
 Run off water is recharged and the bore well water level improved. Soil erosion is reduced in 10 schools.

Childline(1098) Services

Accomplishments:
By conducting awareness/Outreach programmes in Schools & Colleges, Slum areas, Auto stands, Anganawadi teachers, Bus stands, Railway station, Film theaters, Parks, Religious places created awareness among 228579 people on childline ser-vices.

Safe Drinking Water to Village Community

Accomplishments :
In 4 villages, the RO water purification plants are installed and the village community especially the poor and marginalized families are getting the safe and sufficient drinking water in these villages.

Promotion of Sanitation

Accomplishments :
 150 families from Bellary, Raichur & Koppal districts were financial-ly helped to construct individual toilets for their family.
 150 families are using hygienic sanitation.
 Through SHGs, the community is encouraged to get the facility of Individual toilets from local administration (Gram panchayath).

SPARSHA – campaign against cancer

Accomplishments :
 66 volunteers identified (including 11 priests & 3 susters)
 63 awareness programmes conducted to College/high school students, SHGs, Federations and General public.
 45 cancer patients identified.
 17 nutrition gardens promoted.  2 charity boxes installed and 1 cancer patient is financial helped.

Childlabour Special training Centre

Accomplishments :
 142 child labour children identified and given admission.
 After a 6 months to 18 months special training (bridge course), 141 children are re-enrolled (mainstreamed) to school.

Flood Relief & Construction of New houses to Flood affected families

Accomplishments :
 Flood affected 30 houses are repaired during 2009 flood.
 Constructed 80 new houses at Muddanagudi, Benakinal & Dumthi in Raichur district to flood affected fami-lies.
 6 new houses constructed to flood affected families during 2019 flood and 31 families with damaged hous-es are financial helped to repair their houses.
 38 flood affected families in Ballari and Districts were repaired after 2019 flood.

Covid-19 : Relief to Families & Covid Care Centre

Accomplishments :
 165 families helped with Dry ration kits during 2020 covid lockdown.  105 volunteers are given orientation on Covid precautions
 Food kits given to families of 43 SAM & 27 MAM children, 142 Pregnant & 74 Lactating Mothers and 3 Devadasies & 11 people with disability
 300 families were given hygiene kits and face masks
 15000 households are created awareness through whatsapp and house visits by Volunteers.
 30 covid patients were given admission in Covid care centre opened in BDDS and given free medical services, food & accommodation during Covid 2nd wave (May-June 2021).
 In collaboration with Sneha sadhan and Diocese of Ballari, 3500 families affect-ed by Covid lockdown were distributed Dry ration kits.
